Company uses underhanded business practices

Terrible experience. Signed up due to the nature and price of the deal on offer however the company then employed underhanded tactics into keeping me signed up whilst also automatically charging my card the following month leaving me in a financially precarious position.

There is NO option to cancel your subscription online once you have made the first payment which is incredibly shady as you have to pay money in order to call the company directly by phone, wait on hold, before speaking to a customer representative in order to cancel. THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING UP TO THIS COMPANY as my card was charged without my knowledge and once it had been charged beer52 did nothing to help me out.

They claimed once my card had been charged the wine/beer was automatically sent out for delivery, which was strange because I had not received any message from the courier company that it was out for delivery. The delivery was only dispatched 2 days after this claim which shows they are also willing to tell mistruths in order to keep peoples money!

At this point I offered to send the delivery back to them at my own cost which was met with a resounding NO. I also then asked if there could be some kind of discount offered as I had a bill to pay and the amount beer52 took from my card meant I could not pay my bill in full. Again this was met with a resounding NO.

Basically my interactions with this company left a sour taste in my mouth and I believe people need to hear what happened to me before deciding whether to spend their hard earned cash on a company such as beer52.

PS. The actual beer and wine isn’t even all that great either. I would personally stay well away!

Any free crate offered is purely a hook to get your card details, please see the numerous reviews saying the same thing and avoid subscribing.

I’ve been a longstanding customer of both Beer and Wine52 however this month they have shown themselves to have no customer service.

Three weeks my regular beer delivery was allegedly despatched. After a week it had still not left the depot of their carrier. Each day I chased o was either ignored or told to wait another 24 hours. A week on and STILL NO DELIVERY !!
Obviously the handling parcel company had lost or stolen the beer. In week 3 they promised delivery in 24 to 48 hours using another parcel company. However they failed to deal and then the second company alleged to deliver. I have security cameras and an investigation proved it had NOT BEEN DELIVERED. So 3 weeks have passed and they have NOT DONE ANYTHING TO RESOLVE !!! CEO to rude to reply to correspondence and customer services handler JED thinks over familiarity is acceptable whilst absolutely failing to resolve !!!!!!! We head into week 4 and still no apologies and no resolution. Just ignorance and excuses.

Avoid this company if you value service and are prepared to risk your orders not being provided but lost / stolen.

This company is awful. No one should order beer from here. Firstly customer services are not helpful they not doing the job in a right way. They are useless for sorting their mistakes. Be careful with subscriptions if they can charge even if you don’t want it they will and they not even going to put an effort to sort out their mistakes.

I asked for a refund for their mistake and they offered me 6 pounds and a refund of 24 pounds. It shows their attitude toward a customer.

No one should go with them. It is expensive and they are not helpful for you.

Terrible!!!!

Orderd the free offer and tried to cancel the subscription but couldn’t as I did not create a login. Tried to reset my password but my email doesn’t exist in their database, however they still proceeded to take my money for the 2nd month.

Tried to contact them via phone, email and social media with no replies.

I have proceed to do a charge back and block any further transactions.

Do not use this company, their business model appears to be sign customers up for free, take their money thereafter and make it impossible to cancel.

Deeply underwhelming and abject customer service- avoid them

Signed up to Beer 52 for December, tempted by their Beers of Croatia for said month. The box all comprising 330ml cans finally arrived on 29th Dec with only 2 cans related to beers from Croatia, the remainder coming from UK. So certainly nothing to get excited about. They call them awesome beers but I was totally underwhelmed. I had retained the box in case they had dispatched the wrong box or a generic box however given they could not be bothered to respond I will today dump all of their glitzy product into the bin..Is it worth £29 a month,,definately not.

My main bug bear is that I wasted my time emailing them on 10th Jan to clarify if this was the correct order. I got a funky holding email and again a week later with zero back emailed once more. As you will find with this company, lots of wow and magic but incapable of helping me. Dont tell me, you were really really busy or you are a really small business or someone has dropped the ball and in 99% of the time you are world beaters in everything you do. As with the other recent review, you can be dazzled by all sorts on their site however try cancelling and thats where their technical limits end. So I have to call them and tell them I want to immediately cancel my membership and guess what the guy having taken my details says ‘hey you sound very frustrated, is everything OK with you today’! Like what a joke and the complete nerve of this place to come out with that load of drivel. He then further compounds matters by telling me all about what I am going to lose if I cancel, 100 points for this, 26p discount, a cuddly toy etc–laughable eh–all that effort now but absolutely zero effort beforehand–priceless eh. Tip: If you spent your time actually providing ANY customer service rather than trying to build a deeply insincere empathy for how I feel you would be much better served. Any chance they had of retaining me absolutely went out the window when the guy started with those antics. Yes I am frustrated that your delivery promised to get to me prior to Xmas but arrived on 29th Dec, these things happen. I am frustrated in that when I opened the box I got an underwhelming delivery . I was especially frustrated that I sent 2 emails to your business with regard to my order and as a first time customer you would have thought Beer 52 might have given the illusion of service but you would be wrong. You cared so much about my queries that in return across over a week all I got was silence and then the cheek of your call agent to build empathy when I have to call these people to cancel my service.

I had told a lot of family all about Beer 52 so well done Beer 52 you turn me from an advocate to someone who will proactively be telling all and everyone to avoid this silly company for the reasons listed. Deeply unimpressed by the whole experience

Just don't. You will regret it

Bought as a present, so can’t really comment on the beers myself, but the fact that after 5 months she said she wanted it cancelled may tell the story.

Today is Monday, tried to cancel on Friday in a 30 minute window between meetings. 17 minutes on hold – cut off.

Given that you can sign up 100% online, the cancellation process – given that you are told you can cancel at any time – is horrendous. False advertising as you can cancel any time that you can spare a disproportionate amount of your time trying to cancel it

Try to cancel online – nope you can’t you have to call them. “We’re a small company and would love your feedback”.
Feedback – don’t be ridiculous!

Call – can’t even join the queue. Feedback – change the process and let people cancel online as you are simply trying to fraudulently keep customers.

Call – join the queue – 12 minutes and counting on hold. It took less time to sign up.
Feedback stop treating your customers so appallingly and stop wasting their time.

Still on hold – great message “We are working through the queue and will be with you shortly.”
Feedback – thanks for wasting my time and giving me no idea where in the queue I am – how long will I have to waste trying to cancel the order? Assume there is only one person and they simply answer the phone whenever they feel like it.

Feedback – joke company – employ more people if this is the cancellation process – but that would defeat your objective, which is to prevent people from cancelling.

Still on hold – 20 minutes. I am paying for this call to cancel a service that I don’t want.

Poor value and very poor customer service sours the taste.

This really is the worst customer experience I have had for a very long time.

I was given a 3 month subscription as a present, after having to provide credit card details, supposedly to prove age, I said I did not want a subscription, just the 3 months.

They tell me to receive the first shipment, then cancel the subscription and it will all be taken care of. I did as they instructed and they proceeded to cancel it completely, even though my account would show 2 shipments still to send.

(There is no way of doing this online, you have to call them! I waited 15 minutes for them to pick up. At which point they repeatedly pushed me not to cancel.)

I only found this out after my next box failed to appear. Now they are telling me that I have to contact them again after the 3rd box to cancel otherwise they will continue sending. They claim to have no way of setting the service to cancel at the end of the gift period.

Their whole process is geared toward tying you into an unwanted subscription for a product that is not really that good.

The question for many will be are they worth it? Not for me, apart from the customer service souring the taste!

Instead of some interesting beers, I get 2 which were OK and the rest is a selection of drinks that taste more like alcopops and works out at £3.37 for 1/2 a pint – that is more than pub prices for something to drink at home.

Amazing beers and service

Absolutely loved my first box!! The Brohner beers were just incredible, haven’t tasted anything quite like them in years. Can’t seem to buy in UK, would love to buy more. Top notch service from Alex when I had an issue with updating my address details, much apreciated. Thanks
