Toucan Box was born out of one enterprising mother’s frustration at not having all the “every day” materials required for so many of the craft projects her 4 year old daughter was seeing on the television – as she put it, who really saves 24 ice lolly sticks? This lead to the idea of providing a monthly subscription to fun, personalised, entertaining and educational craft projects and Toucan Box was born.

The boxes come in three sizes providing either one, two or four monthly activities for you and your children to work on together. Each box is based around a different theme and as well as the activities will include a book to share, stickers to swap and a parent card with plenty more ideas. Some example themes are; African Adventures, Bugs and Minibeasts, Colour, My Body/Health, Superheros, Wind Power. New themes are added all the time and there are different kits for early years foundation (3-5 year olds) and key stages 1-2 (6-8 year olds).

All Toucan Box activities have been developed by educational experts and come personalised with your child’s name. Illustrated, easy-to-follow instructions make them fun and quick to get into.

Typical trick of the FREE BOX

Really Bad experience with Toucan Box. I had a voucher for a FREE BOX. Obviously when I requested the FREE box you asked me for my bank details when actually is a FREE box. I didn’t know about I have registered for a free box and you will start charging me for the future.

I just checked my bank account and they have charged me for a box that I didn’t request. When I contacted Customer Service to let them know that they have charged me, Marcos from Customer Service said:

“I see you signed up for our free taster box, which is followed by our regular fortnightly or monthly subscription. As noted on our website when signing up, this subscription can be cancelled if, once you’ve experienced the taster box, you don’t think our activities are going to be quite right for your little one. We give 10 days from the time your box is dispatched to cancel. Since your subscription wasn’t cancelled, we sent your second box and this box is what the charge was for”.

If I have 10 days to claim something after I have received your box, it will be fair to sent a reminder to the customer to make sure that we really want to continue receiving your products.

Probably if the situation would be the opposite you would send 1,000 emails of reminder but because this time if we won’t know about those 10 days or even about a “membership” you starting charging without asking.

So here is the TRICK, you request a free box and from that free box they tried to get your money. Really low values, specially when apparently this is something for kids.

Top marks from my 7 year old

I’d never heard of toucan box until I received an email for a free box, I thought I would give it a go as my 7 year old son loves anything crafty. I didn’t tell him about it and he was so happy when he saw a parcel through the post addressed to him. The packaging itself is lovely and the smile on his face when he opened and saw what was inside was definitely worth the value of the box, if not more. He was particularly excited about receiving his very own glue stick.

The leaflet with the instructions were easy for him to follow and he did the majority of the work himself. The actual craft items were really good quality, again he has high praises for the glue. Apparently it spreads really nicely and there is LOADS of it. It took us about 45 minutes from start to finish and now the lantern stands proudly in his room on display.

The box is great value for money, we had the petite box and will continue to subscribe to this. I would happily upgrade to the next box however my son has said he would prefer to have 2 boxes per month with one each rather than one box with 2 in.

I would definitely recommend the box for any children who enjoy crafting or for parents who would like to have something to do with the kids and keep them entertained, I really do wish I had found this box earlier, I will be spreading the word at school.
